The Loma Linda University Adventist Health Sciences Center (LLUAHSC) Institutional Review Board (“LLUAHSC IRB” or just “IRB”) is a committee, operating under Federal regulations, State laws, and institutional policy, that reviews research involving human subjects to ensure the ethical and equitable treatment of those subjects.

The following are designated as affiliated components of Loma Linda University for purposes of implementing Federal policy regarding human subject research: Loma Linda University Medical Center, Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, Loma Linda University Community Medical Center, Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center, and the associated faculty medical practice corporations.

Loma Linda University shares with most research institutions the philosophy that human subjects are a valuable resource and that this resource should not be expended on meaningless investigations, even if participation carries no apparent risk. The IRB serves to encourage and support quality research.
