Projects involving recombinant DNA, infectious agents, or other potentially biohazardous materials must be approved by the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), whether exempt from federal regulation or not.

Applying to the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)

The IBC committee meets on the first Thursday of each month. 

The process to submit a protocol is as follows:

  1. Complete and submit an IBC Application Form in InfoEd (https://era.llu.edu).
  2. Consult the IBC administrator if there is any question or item not clearly understood (x19443 or email [email protected]).
  3. The application will be administratively prescreened and sent back to you if revisions are needed before it is submitted for committee review.
  4. Once the application is submitted it will be reviewed by the IBC and the outcome communicated in writing.

For sponsored project proposals (grant applications or contracts), contact the IBC at least one month before the sponsor deadline.
